The Messy Middle

The messy middle is a concept probably most creatives know all too well. It’s a process we have to walk through to get to the gold. 

In the messy middle, we come face to face with our doubts, our fears, our limitations. 

I experience the messy middle pretty much every time I create something new, whether I’m creating art, writing a song or preparing to speak. 

But something in me says to keep going. And more often than not, as I paint, the form begins to emerge and I start to feel at peace, even happy with the result of my labour.

I just want to encourage you today that if you are in the messy middle- rest assured that it is the middle, it’s not the end. 

Sometimes things can look worse before they get better. But even in that, in hindsight, can be beautiful in it’s own way.

turning up,

trusting

and keep your head up. 

You’re strong and brilliant, with treasure troves of gold waiting to be unearthed.
